This 925 sterling silver ring features a traditional claddagh symbol on a smooth band.

There are many myths and legends surrounding the Claddagh symbol but my favourite is certainly the most romantic. The story goes back some 300 years to the tiny fishing villlage of the same name on the edge of the City of Tribes. It concerns a certain Richard Joyce, a silversmith from Galway. While on his way to the West Indies around 1675 he was captured and sold to slavery. The Moorish goldsmith who bought him taught him his craft. After 14 years in captivity, he was released and returned to Galway where his true love awaited him. While he was enslaved he fashioned what we now know as the Claddagh Ring especially for her. The heart symbolizes love, the hands friendship and the crown loyalty.

✩ Sterling silver claddagh is 25mm wide and 14mm at highest point; sterling silver band is 3mm. Choose from a US size 6, 7, 8 or 9. All components are 925 sterling silver.
✩ Comes beautifully packaged as shown in a branded box with care instructions. If this is intended as a gift, please let us know when you check out…that way we can include a blank gifting card for you!

ABOUT CRASH+DUCHESS:

Crash+Duchess was born after coming home from an impromptu visit to my first bead shop back in 2008. I found myself with a pile of beautiful stones, but no knowledge of what to do with them - buying beads for their inherent beauty seemed like a perfectly reasonable thing to me. After staring at them for months, I decided to try to cobble something together, hoping it wouldn't fall apart while wearing it. As luck would have it, that first necklace was a success and I was hooked (luckily so were my corporate co-workers who loved in-house shopping!). My philosophy has been pretty straight forward since the beginning: make awesome, affordable, quality jewellery that can be worn everyday. This shop is a true one-woman show. I go shopping for materials; experiment with designs; transform my components into the finished piece; and take care of the shipping, bookkeeping, office tasks, product photography, social media updates, and more. Even though I never assumed this would be my life's path, I've been fortunate enough to be my own boss for a little while now, focusing on jewellery and the inner-workings of a small business, day in and day out. I feel fortunate that my home life and work life are so visibly, deeply intertwined, allowing me to never forget how grateful I am for being able to do what I do on a daily basis.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have you checked out my other shop yet? Modern, minimalist jewellery: https://www.etsy.com/shop/littleglamour
